Welcome to Kinring Australian Shepherds.
We are a small kennel located just outside of Selkirk, Manitoba Canada, breeding CKC and ASCA registered Australian Shepherds. We focus on breeding healthy dogs with excellent temperament. We are also proud to say that our dogs do extremely well in the conformation ring – we have many champions located all over Canada, the United States, and Europe. Kinring Australian Shepherds has multiple High in Trial winning dogs, including a Nationals Specialty winner with a perfect 200 score. Our dogs play in the agility field, the rally-o ring, and several have worked stock and earned ASCA/CKC/AHBA titles along with High in Trials, High Combined, and Most Promising Aussie, awards. We have dogs competing in disc dogs (Frisbee), therapy dogs, movie stars, and many many wonderful loving companions.
I am a CKC, ASCA, and MASC member. I have worked in a variety of club executive positions and organize many Aussie events! Kinring is a registered kennel name with the Canadian Kennel Club. I am also a rep for ARPH which is the ASCA official rescue group for Australian Shepherds.
I enjoy many activities with my dogs. Presently I am most active in conformation, but I have trialed a number of dogs in obedience, agility, raced for many years in Flyball, dabbled in tracking, and was very active in our local K9 Search and Rescue Organization. I have worked with animals for most of my life. My experiences range from teaching various dog classes (obedience, flyball, SAR), working with a professional handler, and grooming. I have also been very involved with wildlife rescue; first as a volunteer, and eventually as Rehabilitation Director of MWRO. Throughout university I worked in a vet clinic with some wonderful vets who were great teachers and shared so much of their knowledge with me. My formal education is in biology, with a BSc and then on to a BEd. During the day I teach highschool Biology to support my dog habit.
Kinring Australian Shepherds was named for a character in a Louis L’Amour novel. I LOVE to read and have collected Louis L’Amour books for years. Louis wrote a series of stories about a family called the Sacketts that immigrated to North America. The first child born to the Sackett family on North American soil was called Kin Ring Sackett. I thought this was an appropriate kennel name for a breed of dog whose ancestors also immigrated to North America and were then shaped and developed into the breed we know today.
I hope you enjoy visiting our site!
